What is L.S.U?

            The Latino Student Union serves as a cultural, educational, political and social outlet for the Latino Community at Rockdale County High School. This club was created to assist, educate and prepare our students to voice their opinion and address the needs of the RCHS Latinos/Hispanic student body by making leaders while educating our school about our heritage and needs.

            The L.S.U creates a Voice for the Latino Community by identifying the needs of the Latino students on campus and being an advocate to RCHS administration in order to address these needs. We also strive to serve the Latino community off-campus through community service events projected at the upward movement of our community. We are a heritage group composed of students who want to learn more about the Latino/Hispanic heritage and who have recognized some of the problematic issues concerning the Latino percentage of the student body.

            We realize it will take a tremendous amount of devotion and dedication from the L.S.U to see that our needs are met and our problems are resolved. We acknowledge the importance of proving that our cause is worthy. Educating them about our club with the result of contributing our time and energy to the community and school, we hope it will be good representation of the Rockdale High school Latino/Hispanic students to the world.

            We celebrate our heritage through events that allow us to proudly display aspects of all Latino cultures, while educating others of our traditions and Customs.

            The L.S.U prides itself on being an open and diverse group, available to every student and it serves as a “home away from home” by providing students the opportunity to form lasting friendships, sharing common interest and creating an overall sense of Familia.
